Stag parties in Scotland

Planning a stag do weekend in Scotland? Scotland is the perfect destination for a stag do weekend. With its stunning lochs, majestic mountains and incredible nightlife, it’s no wonder Scotland is such a popular place for stag parties.

The abundance of outdoor activities on offer promises you and your mates an adrenaline-filled weekend of fun, thrills, and adventure.

When planning a stag party in Scotland, you’ll find plenty of subdued to full adventure activities. From whisky-tasting tours to gorge walking, there’s something for everyone. Plus, with cities like Inverness and Aviemore offering fantastic nightlife options, you can be sure your stag weekend will be memorable.

Edinburgh stag activities are often popular when looking for stag do ideas. However, if you're looking to try something a little different and want the groom to have an unforgettable experience, explore what Scotland offers beyond the Scottish capital.

The Cairngorms is a stunning mountain range located in the Scottish Highlands. It is the largest national park in the UK, boasting various activities and attractions that will level up any stag party. Whether you want adrenaline or a more laid-back vibe, the Cairngorms can provide the best venues, popular activities, and a traditional Scottish weekend to remember.

Stag do activities and accommodation in the Cairngorms

As the organiser of a Scottish stag do, you'll be spoilt by the huge range of ideas to choose from in the Cairngorms, so your main task will be finding the perfect blend of activities to suit the quieter members of your clan, to the more adventurous.

A huge range of stag activities are available in the Cairngorms, including:

  • Mini highland games
  • Raft building
  • Canoeing
  • White water rafting

  • Gorge walking
  • Clay pigeon shooting / Laser clays
  • Archery

That's just to name a few! You'll be able to choose from traditional Scottish activities like the caber toss, water adventures such as a paddle on the River Spey, or a hike across the stunning highlands.

Quite often, accommodation can cause a real headache for stags, with many places not taking large groups, but in the Cairngorms, there are many options to give you the perfect base for the weekend.

Aviemore is also very popular among stag parties in Scotland, with plenty of accommodation options, including luxury hotels, self-catering chalets and lodges. Here at Cairngorms activities, we have a bunkhouse that can sleep up to 16 comfortably.

Top tips for building your own stag weekend adventure

A stag weekend is the perfect way to celebrate the groom's last hurrah before getting married. It's a great opportunity for all his closest friends and family to come together and have a blast, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Building your own stag weekend can be both exciting and challenging. So we've put together our top tips to help you start planning.

  • Start by deciding on a destination, as this will determine what activities are available and how much you need to budget for accommodation, food, drinks and entertainment.
  • Then decide who to invite; ensure there are enough people, so you don’t feel overwhelmed or overcrowded. Choose activities that everyone can enjoy, such as mini highland games or gorge walking.
  • Schedule time for relaxation. Stag parties can be pretty full on, so some gentle activities such as a visit to a brewery or distillery (check out Cairngorm Brewery in Aviemore!) or a walk in the stunning highlands will go down well.
  • You'll definitely need to eat. Consider organising food for large groups. It’s definitely recommended to book in advance. If you're staying with us, you'll have your own BBQ, and if you're doing our Ultimate Stag Package, we'll supply your food for the first night.
  • You may also want to consider organising transport. There are plenty of options, from taxis to trains and buses.

With careful planning and consideration of everyone's needs, you can create an unforgettable stag weekend!

Here at Cairngorms Activities, we've got a huge selection of activities to help you create the best Scottish experience. And, because we're experts in the area, we can help you plan and organise the perfect stag weekend in the great outdoors.
